Frank van Ham is a post doctoral researcher at the Visual Communications Lab in Cambridge. Frank holds an MS in Computer Science and a PhD in Information Visualization from the Eindhoven University of Technology. His PhD research focused on techniques for the interactive visualization of large graphs. This interest led him to create visualizations that provide insight into graphs with more than 50,000 nodes from such diverse application areas as social networks, software systems, and low-level representations of computer programs. He also co-created the sequoiaview disk browser (http://www.win.tue.nl/sequoiaview), which enables users to examine their hard disk usage at a glance. Frank's current work at IBM focuses on graph visualization, large-scale visualization and collaborative visualizations.
In addition to visualizing large-scale information and graphs, Frank is interested in language processing. In his free time he enjoys playing guitar, on-line gaming, diving, skiing and rock climbing. Unfortunately, hailing from the Netherlands -- a place not known for mountains or snow -- he hasn't gotten to do as much of the latter two as he would have liked. You can read about Frank's past projects here: http://www.win.tue.nl/~fvham or mail him about his current projects at fvanham@us.ibm.com.
