Double-Gate Transistor

Allows smaller, faster chips

Field of Double-Gate transistors
A Scanning Electron Microscope image of an array of double-gate transistors. The gates can be seen wrapped around and over the thin fins, which is the silicon connecting the source and drain of the device.

Double-Gate transistors
A closer view of the above image. The double-gate surrounds the body (fin) of the transistor, and the source is seen as the thin 'fin' of silicon protruding forward in front of the gate and body. The drain (not visible) is symmetrically placed, behind the gate and body.

Double-Gate transistor structure
An illustration of the above described structure.
