Computer scientist Wendy Hall talks about the need for a new academic discipline called Web science that will give computer scientists, sociologists and market researchers a look at what makes the Web -- and us -- tick.

Dr. Hall is professor of computer science at the University of Southampton, UK. She is also president of the Association for Computing Machinery -- the first person from outside North America to hold this position in the ACM’s 60-year history.
