IBM Research has awarded the 2008 Josef Raviv Memorial Postdoctoral Fellowship to Mihai Patrascu and Vinod Vaikuntanathan. IBM typically awards only one Raviv fellowship each year, but because of the extremely high quality of these candidates, two awards were made. The winners were selected from more than 100 applicants around the world.
Dr. Patrascu and Dr. Vaikuntanathan completed their Ph.D. studies in computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Both recipients now work at IBM Research -- Dr. Patrascu at the Almaden Research Center; and Dr. Vaikuntanathan at the T.J. Watson Research Center.
