How the Internet is influencing vehicle-to-vehicle communications

A visiting professor from UCLA explains how cars can become mobile data centers.

"We want to reduce accidents using car-to-car communications. For instance, we're approaching an intersection, and if I could be notified that there is a car approaching from the other side, and it doesn't look [as if] that the car will be able to stop at the traffic light, so, I'm notified, and I can stop in time."

Computer scientist Mario Gerla, UCLA, talks about the role of the Internet in car-to-car communications -- and how cars will become mobile data centers.
