Abstract: A subhaplogroup of R1b, which occupies primarily a region in France and must be derived from other European R1b's, appears in only 0.1% of the European population. It appears in no samples obtained in nations surrounding Lebanon, nor in non-Christian Lebanese populations. Yet it appears with a frequency of 2% among Lebanese Christians. How? Or, more specifically, which conditions would be most compatible with this observation? Speaker biography: Dan Platt has been working as a part of the IBM team working with the National Geographic Society's Genographic Project since its kickoff in 12/2004, and has been working with the Computational Biology Center for over 10 years. | ||||
