XQuery update optimizations at SIGMOD 2008

	I am enjoying SIGMOD in Vancouver. This afternoon I am presenting our paper, "XML Query Optimization in the presence of Side Effects" in Research session 8. In the conference I have so far been most impressed by current work in privacy and "spatial" queries used to express searches on maps and similar structures.
