Chidanand Apte is a Research Staff Member and Senior Manager of the Data Analytics research area in the Math. Sciences department at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center. He joined the center in 1984 to initially work on expert systems and knowledge representation. His main areas of current technical interests include algorithms and systems for data and text mining. and solutions for business intelligence and knowledge management. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rutgers University, and a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. He has authored numerous papers in knowledge discovery and data mining, expert systems, and knowledge acquisition. He is a senior member of the IEEE, and a member of the AAAI.
