Summary

Joel W. Branch joined the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in Hawthorne, NY in 2007 as a research staff member in the Network Management Research Group. His research interests include middleware frameworks, networking protocols and root cause analysis solutions for wireless ad hoc and sensor networks as well as end-to-end management tools for enterprise-scale IT systems. Joel's broader interests lie in pervasive/mobile computing, networking, and business process management.

Joel received his Ph.D. in computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY in May, 2007. He graduated summa cum laude from Howard University in Washington, DC with a B.S. in computer science in May, 2001. Throughout his graduate study, Joel received multiple fellowships and awards, including best student paper awards as well as the Robert McNaughton Award for best thesis in computer science at Rensselaer.
