Dr. Chen is a Research Staff Member in the Deep Computing Systems Department at IBM Research. He has been working on the architecture, design and applications of the Blue Gene supercomputer systems since early 2000.
Dr. Chen received his B.S. degree in physics from Peking University in 1990, and Ph.D. degree in theoretical physics from Columbia University in 1996. He continued as a postdoctoral researcher in theoretical physics at MIT before joining IBM Server Group in 1999. He was one of the recipients of the Gordon Bell prize in 1998 for the QCDSP supercomputer.
