Alessandro Curioni received his diploma in Theoretical Chemistry and PhD in Computational Materials Science at Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa, Italy.
He joined IBM Zurich Research Laboratory in 1998 as Research Staff Member in the Computational Biochemistry and Materials Science Group. Since then he has developed and applied advanced computational methods to the study of materials issues related to IBM core and exploratory technologies and to the investigation of important molecular processes in the Life Sciences. In 2007 he has been appointed Manager of the Computational Science Group.
He is a world expert in high performance computing. Currently he is actively involved in the scaleout of Deep Computing applications on novel massively parallel computers such as BlueGene.
