Eliezer Dekel received his B. Sc. Cum Laude (1976) in Mathematics from Ben Gurion University, Israel and his M. Sc. (1979) and Ph. D. (1981) in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota. He joined the faculty of The University of Texas at Dallas as an Assistant Professor in 1981; he was promoted to Associate Professor in 1986. In 1992, he joined IBM Research Laboratory in Haifa; he is now a Research Staff Member. He has served on the program committees of numerous conferences. Dr. Dekel is a subject area editor for the Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing. His research interests include parallel and distributed processing (algorithms and architectures), QoS in multi-tier architectures, object oriented technology, components architecture, and software engineering. He is now involved with several projects related to autonomic computing and high availability.
