Joshua Auerbach has been a Research Staff Member at the IBM Watson Research Center since 1983. His research, publications, and patents have ranged from programming languages and software tools to communications and distributed systems. He was a recent contributer to IBM's WebSphere Application Server (messaging component), and the WebSphere Real Time Java VM.
Prior to joining IBM he was a manager and staff systems programmer at the Yale Computer Center. His original background was in Social Psychology (Yale Ph.D, 1977), but he migrated to Computer Science after working for a year (1977) in Yale's Institution for Social and Policy Studies as the principle programmer for a large statistical library and data management system.
