IT Optimization Research
Research lab: Watson Research Center (Hawthorne)
Dr. Kamal Bhattacharya manages a team at IBM Research exploring new ideas in the area of IT Optimization. His research focuses on topics around data center consolidation and application migration. Furthermore, his team is working on novel ideas around business value driven strategies for IT Service Management. Prior to his current position he has been working as a Research Staff Member in the Model-driven Business Transformation team. He has been leading and participating in several model-driven business transformation engagements over the past years. He has received two Outstanding Technical Achievment Award and several IBM Research Division awards for his work. Furthermore, he has received several best paper awards for his work on business process management and IT service management. Prior to joining IBM Research he has been working as an IT architect at IBM Global Services in Germany. He graduated with a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Goettingen University, Germany, in 1999.
