Tim Klinger

Software Engineer

Research lab: Watson Research Center (Hawthorne)

I am a researcher in the Governance Science group at the IBM Watson Research Center. Our group focuses on developing new techniques for understanding and aligning software development efforts with organizational business objectives. The unifying thread for our work is the view that that software development and delivery is a complex, adaptive, creative process. I am particularly interested in the application of Artificial Intelligence techniques to this problem.

In the past I have been a member of the Software Quality group where my focus was on model-based testing and the application of AI planning to test generation. I am also a co-author of IBMs Intelligent Test Handler tool for efficiently generating small, covering test suites.

In 1987 I received a BA Joint Honors Mathematics & Computer Science from McGill University. I received my MS (1993) and PhD (2001) from New York University in Computer Science.
