Alexander V. Konstantinou is a Research Staff Member at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center in Hawthorne, New York, where he is a member of the Model Driven Management department. His current research is focused on model-driven technologies for automating the deployment of distributed multi-tier data center applications. In his work in this area, he pioneered the concept of computer assisted interactive model-driven deployment planning. In this approach, users interact with automation throughout the design cycle, expressing deployment intention while the automation handles the required low level configuration. The approach has been shown to provide significant reduction of complexity in topology generation and selection. As part of this work, he has led the design and development of a distributed configuration modeler, a configuration validation and resolution architecture, as well as tooling for model-driven design, transformation, and provisioning. He has been awarded a Ph.D. in computer science by Columbia University in the area of autonomic network management. His thesis work introduced novel results in autonomic network management organization, element instrumentation, and policy maintenance. His research interests are in the areas of systems and network management, programming languages, tooling, and security.
