Kevin Singley has been a member of the IBM Research Learning and Organizational Performance group since 1996, where he has led a number of projects involving intelligent tutoring and learner modeling. Trained as a cognitive psychologist at Carnegie Mellon University, he has co-authored a book on empirical studies of production rule representations of cognitive skills, and has numerous publications in instructional technology and the psychology of learning. Prior to joining IBM, he was a Director of Research at Educational Testing Service, where he led projects on the computer analysis of mathematics problem solving behavior and the design of authoring tools for computer-adaptive testing.
