Welcome to my homepage! I am a research staff member at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center. I did my Ph.D. work under Dr. Jeffrey S. Vitter in the Department of Computer Science at Duke University. I had previously obtained my M.Sc. and B.Sc. at the School of Computing, National Univerisity of Singapore under the supervision of Dr. Philip M. Long and Dr. Y. C. Tay respectively.

My research interests includes:
* Relational-XML data models and schema design
* Query optimization in databases (including XML and relational)
* DBMS statistics for selectivity estimation.
* XML Schema Evolution
* Novel applications on top of XML DBMSs.
* Novel application of machine learning techniques.
* Text indexing and retrieval.
* Data compression.
* Data management in the financial industry and in the healthcare industry
