Leiming QianSenior Software engineer

Leiming graduated from Tsinghua University, P.R.China, in 1996 with two bachelors' degrees in Mechanical Engineering and in Automation. He obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2001. In the same year he joined IBM Voice Systems Group working on ViaVoice technology. Since early 2004, Leiming has been working in the Natural Language Technology group and is an important member of the following research projects: the IBM information extraction toolkit (SIRE/BlueMax), the TIDES Automatic Language Exploitation System (TALES), and the Global Autonomous Language Exploitation (GALE) system.
Leiming's reseach interests include R&D in the area of image/video/audio analysis and processing, information extraction/retrieval, web-based services and user interface design/implementation. And in general any challenging problem whose solution has real-life impact.
