Sameer Kumar received the BTech (1999) degree in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India and an MS and PhD degrees in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. His PhD thesis was on Optimizing Communication for Massively Parallel Processing. He is currently a Research Staff member at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center working with the Blue Gene software group.
