RF-IC design and packaging

Research lab: Watson Research Center (Yorktown)

Ullrich Pfeiffer received the diploma degree in physics and the Ph.D. in physics from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, in 1996 and 1999 respectively. In 1997 he worked as a research fellow at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Oxfordshire England, where he developed high-speed Multi-Chip Modules. In 2000 his research was based on high-integrated real-time electronics for a particle physics experiment at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), Switzerland. He joined IBM in 2001 and is presently a research staff member at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center. His research involves RF circuit design, high-power amplifier design at 60 GHz and 77 GHz, high-frequency modeling and packaging for 60-GHz and 3G cellular systems. He received the “Best Paper” award for the 2004 International Solid-State Circuits Conference.
