Dr. Weizhong Zhu is a member of the Department of Human Language Technologies at the T. J. Watson Research Center. Currently he works on the speech to speech translation system project for handhold devices.
Dr. Zhu’s R&D interest covers various topics in speech and language technology, these include speech analysis, speech synthesis, speech recognition, machine translation and their related application system developments. Dr. Zhu has published more than 30 papers in various journals and conferences, and he also holds a US patent.

In the past, Dr. Zhu has worked for the Shanghai Institute of Computing Technology, Shanghai, China, Matsushita(Panasonic) Electric Industrial Co., Kyoto, Japan and VerbalTek, San Jose, USA, also Naunce(formerly Scansoft), Montreal, Canada.

Weizhong Zhu received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Utsunimiya University, Utsunomiya, Japan, in 1998, and he was a post-doctoral research fellow at the INRS-Telecommunication, University of Quebec, Canada, in 2003.
