Karen WittingSenior Software Engineer
Research Lab: Watson Research Center (Hawthorne)
Karen Witting is a senior software engineer at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, where she works in the Industry Solutions and Emerging Business department. Karen's focus is on defining healthcare infrastructure standards which support sharing healthcare data across enterprises and communities. The primary focus of her standards work is IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) which is an international standards profiling organization. In July 2006 Karen was elected as co-chair of IHE's IT Infrastructure technical committee. This position is a two year appointment. In August 2007 Karen's IHE profile Cross-Community Access was published by IHE. Karen received a M.A. and B.A from State University College of New York at Potsdam in Mathematics and a M.S. from Union College in Computer Science. Karen has been working for IBM for more than 20 years, starting in Kingston and Poughkeepsie, NY doing development for many software projects. In 1998, she joined the IBM T. J. Watson research Center in Hawthorne, NY, where her research focus has been in the area of distributed systems programming.
