Dr. Chidanand Apte is Research Staff Member and Senior Manager of Data Analytics at IBM’s Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York. Chid has been with IBM Research since 1984, after completing his Ph.D. in Computer Science at Rutgers University and B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay.
His current technical interests are in methodologies for automated analytics applications, high performance data mining, and business intelligence solutions. At IBM, Chid has worked closely with IBM’s Software Group, with some of IBM’s leading clients in Retail, Travel & Transportation, and Financial Services, and with IBM internal businesses, to develop "First of a Kind" data mining solutions and analytical applications. He has worked across a broad set of application domains, including manufacturing quality control, supply chain management, newswire categorization, portfolio management, insurance and financial risk management, targeted marketing, automated help desks, customer lifetime value modeling, clinical data mining, and market intelligence.
Chid is a senior member of the IEEE, a member of the AAAI and ACM SIGKDD, and has published extensively in his areas of expertise.
