Yan Liu joined IBM research as a Research Staff Member in November 2006. She is currently working on developing machine learning and data mining algorithms for business analytics. Yan Liu received her B.S. in computer science from Peking University in China in 2001, and her M.Sc and Ph.D. degree in Language Technologies Institute, School of Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University in 2004 and 2006. Her Ph.D. thesis is titled "Conditional Graphical Models for Protein Structure Prediction" and is concentrated on developing graphical models for solving problems in computational biology, including protein structure prediction and protein fold recognition.
