IBM Research has been active in many areas of Semantic Web Technologies Research. We have made significant contributions to the development and standardization of keys semantic web enabling technologies, including RDF, OWL, SPARQL, and RIF. We have developed breakthrough techniques to scale reasoning over very large and expressive knowledge bases and to perform automated composition of semantic web-services and components of flow-based applications. IBM Research has led in the application of Semantic Web Technologies to solve a variety of real-world problems in various domains: from matching patients to available clinical trials, to detecting frauds in financial markets; from enhancing search over medical literature to developing a state-of –the-art tool for collaborative investigation, reasoning, and analysis.
