IBM Israel Research Seminars

Taking the example of a concrete business process of a real customer the talk demonstrates why business processes must be modeled to a finer extent of granularity to become the basis of an executable workflow in a so-called enterprise platform environment containing a standardized, BPEL-driven workflow engine. To the steps in the business process services are attached in accordance with a SOA. Therefore, different techniques are used like web services, J2EE CA adapters to name a few. Furthermore, business activity monitoring functionalities are attached to measure key performance indicators for example and to present them in a dashboard. Concepts and the state-of-the-art are shown including single event triggering, real-time event data processing, event stream processing, and future complex event processing and event abstracting concepts.
