Services now account for a large portion of IBM's business and the United States economy; it is also playing a role in transforming the economies of developing nations and emerging growth markets. Its growing importance has led IBM to develop a new research focus area: services research. We will study the science underlying services to create a new generation of innovative tools and solutions to benefit our company, our clients and the world.
